Selling Stock - Funds availability

Where is my Money - I sold my Stock?

Written by Nathaniel O'Dell

After you sell a stock

  • The sale happens immediately (your shares are gone right away).

  • BUT the cash is not fully yours yet.

2. Settlement time (key part)

  • BankSocial follows the industry T+1 rule (trade + 1 business day)

  • So your money becomes withdrawable in about 1 business day

Example:

  • Sell on Monday → money settles Tuesday

  • Sell on Friday → money settles Monday (or next business day)

3. When can you actually use the money?

  • To buy more stocks: often immediately

  • To withdraw to your bank: after settlement (≈1 business day)

4. Transfer to your bank

Once it’s settled:

  • Standard bank transfer: ~1–5 business days

Simple breakdown

  • Sell stock → instant execution

  • Wait ~1 business day → funds settle

  • Withdraw → 1–5 more days to hit your bank
