Written by Nathaniel O'Dell

Download & Open the BankSocial App

  • Get the app from App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)

  • Log in with your BankSocial credentials.

Complete Verification (KYC)

Before you can trade stocks, you’ll need to verify your identity:

  • Go to your Profile or Account Settings.

  • Complete the Identity Verification (often called KYC).

  • You may need to upload:

    • Photo of a government-issued ID

    • Self-photo or selfie

    • Personal info (name, address, SSN, etc.)

This is required by regulators before you can trade.

Open Your Investing / Stocks Account

Once verified:

  • Tap the Stocks or Investing tab in the app.

  • You may be asked to agree to terms (investing risk disclosures, account agreements).

  • BankSocial will create your investment account (linked to your main BankSocial wallet).

Fund Your Investing Wallet

You’ll need cash available to buy stocks:

  • Go to Add Funds or Deposit.

  • Transfer money from your linked bank (via Plaid).

  • Wait for the transfer to settle (typically a day or two).

Tip: Keep an eye on your settled cash balance — only settled funds can be used to buy.

Browse or Search for Stocks & ETFs

  • Tap the Search (🔍) icon in the Stocks tab.

  • Enter a company name or ticker symbol (e.g., AAPL, SPY).

  • Select the stock or ETF from the results list.

Place Your First Trade

Once you find a stock:

  1. Tap it to open its detail page.

  2. Choose Buy.

  3. Enter the amount or share quantity you want.

  4. Review the details.

  5. Swipe or tap Submit/Buy to place the order.

Wait for Settlement

  • Most stock trades settle in 2 business days (T+2).

  • After settlement, proceeds from sales become withdrawable cash (takes ~3 business days to reach your bank).

Track & Manage Your Portfolio

  • Return to the Portfolio tab to see:

    • Your current holdings

    • Gain/loss

    • Market value

    • Transaction history
